COUPLE THERAPY

Relationships can be hard sometimes.

I have deep respect and awareness of the process a couple goes through long before committing to come to couple therapy. It takes enormous courage for both parties to take this step and I honour it.

 

I also believe that we don’t choose our partners by accident, and for that reason, conflict and relationship difficulties can offer opportunities for healing and growth for each of you as individuals as well as for your relationship.

HOW CAN IT HELP US?

On a practical level, couple psychotherapy and counselling can be very effective if you want to improve communication or resolve a specific issue, such as life stage transitions, healing after an affair or childbearing decisions.

Or simply for those who wish to deepen their intimacy and commitment, couple therapy is a great option.

 

MY APPROACH

In couple therapy with me, your relationship is my client and I work in service to your relationship. This means that you will always be seen together by me and not at any time individually. It is a really helpful approach to supporting your reconnection as a couple.

 

COUPLE THERAPY SESSIONS

Our sessions in couple therapy create safety and objectivity to explore your issues. It's more interactive than classic therapy, integrating valuable tools and exercises to shed light on what you each bring to the relationship.

The hope is that this space and time to focus and listen to one another fosters greater awareness, relief and mutual understanding. As such at times the sessions can be more active and structured than a typical individual therapy session!

You will regularly be invited to put into practice what you have learnt in between our sessions or to take part in reflective exercises. For you to get the most out of this investment in your relationship take a moment to reflect on your willingness to commit to this.

 

The ultimate goal of couple therapy is arriving at a place of surrendering the judgemental mind, becoming more able to love yourself and others and achieving a sustainable connection with others.

 

We typically work with an initial 8 sessions either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on the relationship goal. I can talk to you further about my approach and answer any questions you may have in my free consultation call offered to potential new clients.
